Note: If you are considering Long-Term Care for yourself or a family member, an assessment by Broome County CASA is the first step. See Long-Term Care Assessment and Referral service description for more details.

This section, developed by the Long-Term Care Administrators of the Southern Tier, provides generic descriptions of various long-term care options, and lists of facilities in the area. These facilities do not discriminate based upon race, creed, color, age, sex, national origin, or handicap. Every effort has been made to ensure that the information is accurate at time of printing; however, information changes frequently. Please contact the facility directly for specifics.

Many long-term care alternatives and services are available for elders. Before choosing what is right for you or a family member, it is important to understand the various levels of care associated in providing such services. Though families often go to great lengths in caring for aged loved ones, they may not be able to provide the best physical and emotional care without experiencing undue emotional, physical, or financial stress. When a person must decide the best alternative arrangement for meeting personal and health care needs, refer to the options listed in the description of Long-Term Care services for additional details and guidance.
