through the Health Insurance Information, Counseling,
and Assistance Program (HIICAP). Assists in
understanding senior health insurance policy issues
related to Medicare claims and appeals, supplemental
“Medigap” health insurance options, retiree plans,
EPIC and other prescription drug coverage options.
Trained staff also provide long-term care insurance
counseling by appointment. Speakers and educational
materials on the topics listed above are available. |

| EPIC (Elderly Pharmaceutical Insurance Coverage) | |
| Helps low- and moderate-income seniors, age 65 and
older, save on prescription drug costs. Under this costsharing
program, seniors pay a premium or meet a deductible
to join. Depending on cost of medicines, participants
pay a set co-payment at pharmacy for each
prescription. (For local EPIC assistance, call Action
for Older Persons at 722-1251). |
| Rural Health Network of South Central NY | |
| Pharmaceutical Patient Assistance Programs help individuals without prescription coverage obtain prescription medication for chronic health conditions at little or no cost. Rural Health Network assists individuals applying for these programs. |
