Trained peer volunteers offer midlife and older adults unbiased health insurance counseling, by appointment, through the Health Insurance Information, Counseling, and Assistance Program (HIICAP). Assists in understanding senior health insurance policy issues related to Medicare claims and appeals, supplemental “Medigap” health insurance options, retiree plans, EPIC and other prescription drug coverage options. Trained staff also provide long-term care insurance counseling by appointment. Speakers and educational materials on the topics listed above are available.

Medicaid medical insurance provides payment directly to medical care vendors and providers, health care professionals, hospitals, and institutions for needed medical care and services to eligible persons. Helps low- and moderate-income seniors, age 65 and older, save on prescription drug costs. Under this costsharing program, seniors pay a premium or meet a deductible to join.
