Adult Homes provide 5 or more residents with rooms, meals, help with daily living and some degree of protective supervision. A resident may need to be provided assistance with the management of medications, but he or she must be alert enough to take their own medications. These homes are licensed and monitored by the NYS Health Department, Bureau of Licensure and Certification. Some may offer short-term or respite beds. Also see Long-Term Care section for a listing of larger facilities offering Adult Care services. Care is offered 24 hours/day. Hours listed are the available office hours. Other Options: The NY Office of Children and Family Services certifies boarding homes and rooms in family homes with certain services for elderly residents. The Broome County Social Services Department inspects and monitors these homes. For a list of family homes in the area with four beds or less, contact CASA. If you are considering an adult home for yourself or a family member, an assessment by CASA is recommended as a first step. The free-in-home assessment will help you understand what type of home will best suit your needs. CASA can be reached at 778-2420. The local family home programs are: Family Type Homes: This program is for homes which have four or less residents. Family Homes for the Elderly Program: For homes which accommodate up to two people. This program is administered by the Family and Children's Society, which can be reached at 724-5256. | Garden House | 91 Walnut St. Binghamton, NY 13905-2596 (607) 724-5763 Hours: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., Mon. - Fri.
