Suggested contribution of $2.50 per meal for adults age 60 and over and spouse of any age; charge of $3.50 per meal for guests under age 60. to assist Medicare beneficiaries with understanding
their health insurance options. Advance Planning for
End of Life (APEL) Program volunteers assist adults
of all ages with pre-planning for the final phase of life
and completing advance health care directives before
a health care emergency or serious illness happens.
Elder Friendly volunteer evaluators, age 60 or older,`
evaluate businesses “undercover” on rigorous standards
of accessibility, customer service and layout. |

reassurance to persons affected by a medical condition or simply need more

| Volunteers needed to assist with collection and distribution of household goods, and with personal and child care items. |
| Foster Grandparent Program | |
| Offers income-eligible seniors, age 60 and older, the chance to make a difference in the life of a child. Foster Grandparents provide love, encouragement, and companionship to children with special needs on a one-on-one basis, 20 hours or more per week. Volunteers serve at schools, day care centers and institutions, as well as Head Start, summer, and after-school programs located throughout Broome County. Foster Grandparents receive an hourly stipend, travel reimbursement, a daily meal, an annual physical examination, and paid time off. Volunteers also receive orientation prior to placement, and on-going training. (Note: The stipend is nontaxable, non-reportable income that does not affect eligibility for other programs and services.) |
